Three weeks ago I shared with you that I had read Shonda Rhimes’ book, Year of Yes.  I love the depth of honesty shared – she gave a full look at what was going on in her life and how she made changes for herself.  Well done for her and great role modelling for the rest of us.

She shared her new to her dictionary definition of Badassery, which I share with you now, from pages 194 & 195.

Badassery:

1(noun) the practise of knowing one’s own accomplishments and gifts, accepting one’s own accomplishments and gifts and celebrating one’s own accomplishments and gifts; 2. (noun) the practise of living life with swagger: SWAGGER (noun or verb) a state of being that involves loving oneself, waking up “like this” and not giving a crap with anyone else thinks about you.Term first coined by William Shakespeare.

If not clear, to be this –  badassery –  YOU’ve got to make it true.  You’ve got to own it. You’ve got to be it. You’ve got to nail it from the inside out.

Here are two powerful speeches she delivered in late 2014, early 2015.  They are soaked in badassery, inspiration and tenacity. May they give you the “make life happen” feeling they gave me.
